The recommended dieta, or diet, for Ayahuasca is one that is light and healthy, with minimum or zero products of animal origin.

The most important things to avoid in an Ayahuasca dieta are pork and alcohol.

The basic guidelines and recommended lengths to alter your diet are as follows:

NO red or heavy meats (pork, beef, sheep, tuna, eel) – One (1) week before and after.
NO dairy food 1 week before (cheese, milk, butter, etc.).
NO citrus 1 week before.
NO fermented food (pickles, herring, anchovies, old cheese) – One (1) day before and after
Avoid caffeine (coffee, black or green tea, or any other). Herbal tea is OK.
Avoid very spicy foods, with loads of chili, garlic and ginger and please use very little salt.
Avoid sparkling drinks, sodas and very cold foods and beverages.
Please try to consume as little as milk products as possible (although eggs, chicken and fish are not strictly forbidden on the traditional diet).
Avoid sugar candies, coca-cola, etc. A little unheated honey is okay.
Avoid or cut out fatty, processed foods (you can cook with a little coconut or olive oil).

You may eat fruits, grains, egg whites (not on the day of ceremony), vegetables, beans, lentils, fish, nuts and seeds in abundance, however, please avoid over ripe bananas and over ripe avocados. Please also stick to this diet for at least a day after the ceremony because the plants will keep working within you after the experience.

Also, VERY IMPORTANT, to ensure your stomach is empty: no food at all after 2pm on the day of the ceremony - you can drink water and a little herbal tea but that's all. If you eat at 1-2 PM make sure it's a light meal, easy to digest (raw vegetables take a lot of time to digest).
